About me

My name is Carlos Santonja. I was born and raised in a tiny island in the Mediterranean Sea called Menorca. Menorca is one of the most beautiful places on Earth, with a peaceful and tranquil pace of live during most of the year and a bit more excitement during summer time with the arrival of visitors.

I studied Finance and Business in Barcelona and Scotland, and after university I joined a multinational bank, working first in Madrid and currently in Hong Kong. Barcelona, Saint Andrews, Madrid and Hong Kong are all fantastic places to live, and the time I have spend in them and the people I met there make me who I am today.

The main purpose of this website is to host my blog. In it I publish my thoughts on finance & economics, society, personal development, technology etc. Lately, I also spend a lot of time thinking about the digital and financial literacy gaps. Helping others to have a better live is an obligation. It is the most fulfilling and engaging option to dedicate your time and effort. I think that increasing financial literacy levels would dramatically help people to have better lives and I want to contribute to this goal through my side projects.

I have always been an avid reader. Since I was 6 years old I was devouring comics for hours and hours. Later on, novels, essays and History books brought me to places I have yet to visit in real live, and I learnt tons from the wisdom of essay authors and fiction characters alike.

Now, by writing regularly and consistently I want to improve how I organize my thoughts and transmit my ideas. Also, I want to build a collection of my thinking that will be growing with the passage of time. To me that’s a pretty cool thing to have for my family and future generations, and anyone else interested.

I hope you enjoy this constant process of discovery as much as I will do!
